I have these two old concrete silo foundations and I wanted to plant some bamboo in them. How strong are the roots on the bamboo plants. could they damage the concrete containers? they are very old, there is no damage on them now and it would be really bad if they cracked over the years. If i planted them in plastic (like a big sheet filled with soil) would the plastic contain the roots or would they eventually break through.

I was thinking of planting black bamboo as well as another one that is either very nice looking for use in wood working or simply fast growing for quicker harvesting purposes, if anyone had any suggestions.
