Hi,
My house is in upstae NY right along Lake Ontario. I'd say that at my house I am true 6b as the lake has a moderating effect. We do get about 100 inches of snow a year and can go many days to weeks without the temperature getting above freezing in the dead of winter. I just moved into a house on a hill and I really get hammered by wind. I am looking to plant a windscreen. I could go the traditional evergreen route but they are soo slow growing. My question is this...are bamboo ever used as an effective windscreen and if so are there any that are cold hardy enough for me. How fast do they generally grow? I have 2 acres so space is not an issue. Thanks
