As long as the wound has scarred over then it would be ready to plant.

I think it has, I will wait till morning and put them in pots. Maybe just to wait and let them air out a bit since they were wrapped in bubble wrap.

They barely need to touch the soil to begin rooting. They will root from the prickly edging I think, as well as from the bottom. Don't over water. To root they like barely damp soil. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey, Mike, yes they are ready to be potted for rooting.
For the record, these are Thanksgiving Cactus, Schlumbergera truncata.

I find that the very best rooting and growing medium for these is fine-grade Orchid Bark (fir) with a pinch of Perlite and potting mix to help bind the ingredients.
