Garlic - have picked. Where to Dry it?

Good day. I plucked my few garlic plants yesterday. Now they are resting on the back porch in the shade. Every reference I see on the internet says I need to dry these in a "cool dry place". Here in AZ that would mean in the house. Yet the same recommendation says that drying the plants in the house may be a bit smelly.

SO, you Arizona Garlic Growers.... where do YOU let your garlic age 1 - 2 weeks? In the house, pantry, garage, kitchen?

Hello Bookworm, I braided all of mine and hung them from a branch of the carob tree. They were shaded and had good air flow.

Good luck - it's a challenge here for sure.....but it beats scraping ice from the windshield in winter!!

I hang mine in the garage. After the stems dry I cut them off and place the garlic on an old raised(on 2x4's) window screen to dry a bit more. Then bring them in. Do the same for onions.

I cut off the flower stalks (scarps), braided the leaves and hung 'em up on the covered patio that has south exposure and is therefore shaded all day! They are about cured now so will be pulling them in in the next day or so...
