Can you identify this banana plant

We lost our beloved banana plant(s) due to the long, hard winter we had in Birmingham and I would like to plant a replacement. She would get a full 12' tall towards the end of summer and was always so nice and full. We just didn't protect her as much as we should have this year. Can you please help me identify what type of banana it is? Thank you!

If you are overwintering it in the ground in zone 8, it must be Musa basjoo (Japanese fiber banana). If it is, they are fairly commonly available as they are sooooo cold hardy. Good luck!

Thank you, I thought it might be, but the Musa's I've seen around here don't ever seem to be as full and as lush as ours was -- they seem to be scraggly. Maybe because we watered ours twice a day was why she was so pretty. I think I need to get a replacement before I get sad all over again! Thanks again.

It looks more like an edible type to me, if your not worried about getting fruit check out one of the Musa sikkimensis hybrids, like Musa daj giant.
