It could work, for a while anyway! Make sure you have covered the drain holes with screen so no runners can slip out the bottom. You'll have to keep an eye on the plastic too, as UV light will start to weaken it.

If you can get to the area surrounding the bamboo with a mower, you can plant it. The shoots just need to be knocked down in areas you don't want it to grow.

I just do like the other guy. Put it somewhere where you can mow around it and it's no problem. If it goes under the fence, then it's the neighbor's problem ha ha ha!

i would be carefull of plastic tubs , since the suns light degrades certain plastics after a while. you could build your self a raised bed or use farm stock tubs that would hold them.. but if you plant near a fence you must make sure they dont run onto someone land, since you could be taken to court and have to clean up all the growth. its not the neighbor's problem, would be yours since you planted it.. a good root barrier, is ok, but root pruning would be much better to do and only takes 2 or 3 times a year to do.. but with such a small space needing to be blocked out, a wood fence would be cheaper in the long run, and a whole lot less work .. take care and good luck

The plastic tubs would work well for a number of years untill the plastic degragated and the rizones pushed through.
Two methods that are used are barriers and trenches. If you buy a running bambusa you can dig a trench around the area of planting about 8-10" deep and each year check for rizones traveling across your trench and cut them out.
Second way to keep the rizones from traveling is with a rizone barrier of 60 MM thick material 36" deep, take a ditch which and dig around the area you want to plant in and bury the barrier and overlap the ends by 6" being screwed together. A pretty big job for such a small area.
I liked the idea of the raised garden , just line the sides and bottom with either sheet metal or some 60 mm plastic with all seems overlapped and you should be fine.
