The Circle Bed

A couple of years ago I started throwing cheap sales and NOID bulbs in the circular raised bed under the Black Olive tree in our front yard. This season was tremendously late, and I thought I would have no amaryllis blooms. Even the neighbors walking by kept asking if there would be any amaryllis blooming out front this year. Just when things were looking bleak Amaryllis started blooming. It started with a few Red Lion and some Apple Blossom. A wrought Iron decorative piece with purple morning glories near the bird bath...Out the living room window

Cindee, how cool is it that your neighbors ask about your garden? And I can understand why! I love those very purple morning glories too. Looks great with the red/pink of the hippies.

Jan, what variety is that you have planted? Is it the one you called "Voodoo" that you traded with me?

Alana, Voodoos are in there but not flowering at the time.
    Voodoo is smaller then those.
    This is voodoo.

Jan, your bed is amazing!! I have some of those that you gave me, they havn't bloomed for me, but they sure are multiplying!!

Get ahold of Barb and let me know when we can meet for lunch!

Alana, I don't know where the purple MGs came from, but there is a bird feeder in that Olive tree so I guess the birds planted it for me. It has grown like crazy and I have to pull to keep it from taking over. A sweet friend from the Florida Forum brought that wrought Iron and white stone garden post they climb on when I had my swap in 07.

    Thanks for your comments!

Alana, guess what? A guy from the street over came by and asked if he could take photos. They are having a contest at his work for 12 winning photos for a company calendar next year....isn't that sweet???? He is entering them for Jan and Feb 2011

Cindee, that's great. You might be Miss January and Miss February?!! How cool would that be! Funny about the morning glories being volunteers - would you call being planted via bird really a volunteer too?

    Gotta love spring!

Ohhhhhh Cindee! This brings back such good memories. I remember you starting with this "circle bed" project waaayyyyy then when we still had Soultan here.

Vlamenspel sooooo reminds me of dearest Soultan. I have one from him too and it does come back every year with no problems. I miss him dearly and hope he is happy and in peace.

    Pretty, pretty flowers!!!

Hi Rene-the white and red is Vlammenspel and the Pink is Apple Blossom.

Alana...well my birthday IS in FEB. I always wanted to be a calendar girl! Did you get any Taladega tomatoes? Mine have flowers right now.

Maria, dear, I have many to remind me of Soultan as he "SUGGESTED" I add them to my gardens...more like sent them to me and said 'repay when you can". What a wonderful, generous and enabling guy!! I miss him terribly too. I wish we knew how to find him. My Vlam, Johnsonii, Vitattum, Roseum(never bloomed yet)are all of his hand. I hope he feels a warm tug at his heart when we speak of him.
