I've never grown bamboo but understand there are clumping vs running types-other than that-no clue. I have several situations that I'd like to consider using some clumping but don't know what or sources other than typical stores that carry all plants.
The first type I'd like is some thing that stays within a size that can live in a good sized pot. I saw some planted in open urn type planters (those cement ones with a pedestal that are quite common). I really liked the play of what I think is casual bamboo in a formal type presentation. I'd like to grow some for the deck. The idea of something upright so as not to take up 'people' room would be good.
The other area is near a creek in a spot that says quite moist. It has both sun and shade as there's a tree with over hanging branches. It's also at the edge of our property with the creek on the neighbor's side. I'd like to make a seating area and have the bamboo as part of my tropical look. I've got bananas and cannas so far.
I'd be thankful for any information or sources of info to get me on my way.
