This may sound like an odd question but...

My banana has previously fruited and ripened in a "reasonable" amount of time but this year fruit has been very hard and green for months without signs of ripening. As a matter of fact the individual fruits appear to be shrinking.

They have gotten plenty of water with all the rain we've had in south Florida and they receive regular fertilization so what gives?
