To assure the pollenation of my fruit orchard and vegetable garden I would love to put in one hive, but and concerned with hive decline, varoa mite and other issues of maintainance. The hope would be to install a hive that is mostly just for the bees as I don't really need the honey. Have read about Russian bees having a natural resistance, but see very few being distributed. Also read about the top bar hives. What do you think is the best approach for one hive? Is purchasing a used hive box practical or too great a risk for disease?
