I have a few that have been outdoors for 2 or 3 years, but they are all in shade. They get a bit of morning sun, that's all. You can cut the long spindly stems back and they will grow out again in the fall. Make sure they get shade and water through the summer. I have one pot that still blooms, although the blooms are pretty small.

Thanks for the response. I will cut them back. They only get mid-day sun but I guess that is too much at this time of year.

Yep, midday sun is brutal. If you have a bright shady spot, I think they'd do well there.
