Help with Transplant

I just purchased and transplanted two nice clumps of 12' Spectabilis - each with about 4 stalks. I think I transplanted them correctly and have kept them watered frequently, but the leaves are already wilting and stalks losing their color. I am wondering if I should cut back the plants to preserve the energy needed to grow the root structure. Any suggestions?

I would be more inclined to remove individual leaves to bring the plants in balance or remove one of each pair of branches to lessen the load on the roots.
Keep them well mulched to even soil moisture and extend the root growing season a few weeks longer into winter.

trust the plant to let die the foliage it can't support with nutrients and moisture from the truncated root system
