I kept three potted bananas in my basement this past winter under lights sitting on top of a water bed heat mat. They appeared to go somewhat dormant and was concerned they might not make it to Spring but they did fine. One put out new leaves right before Spring. The other methods of dark,dry storage seems like alot trouble and seems to be the better option for folks in the northern climates.

Depending on the size of the plant it is a good idea to let them go dormant in your basement. Leafs may fall off but thats ok. Make sure to not give them light and to only water once.
Then when the season comes around they will be energized.

It is best to let them rest and nit force them to grow over the winter.
