Ensette - why the stunted growth ???

I purchased and planted an Ensette Bannana earily summer and barely got any growth from it. The lable provided little detail as to the variety other than : Banana Ensette. Light = full to part sun. Size = 12-15'H x 4-5'W (Large !).

I planted in almost full sun in a well draining, mixed mulched compost mixture. Is there a smaller variety of Ensette? Is it possilble I got one or does the plant need another year or so to get adjusted ? I have read where Basjoo's sometimes will sit idle for a year or two and then take off. If I have a small variety or species ( if one exists ) I rather move mine to another spot.If what I have should be the larger variety then should I give it another season to adjust ? I have a few other bananas and all did well this season except the Ensette.
