I need tips on overwintering

I recently acquired a banana plant from a friend, it's about 8'. I just have a few questions if some of you could please answer.

(1st) I've cut of all the leaves. After I did this I read that you should leave a few at the top! Opps! Have I committed a crime?

(2nd) I rapped the trunk in burlap. Just burlap. Do I need more insulation around the trunk or will the burlap work?

(3rd) I've also read that I should use a fungicide. What kind of fungicide should I use? Do I need a copper based type?

(4th) What's the ideal temperature I should store my plant in?

I've never tried growing banana plants before, but I'm really looking forward to the spring!!! I'm also a little scared about the overwintering process!

Thanks for any and all info!!

Marc
