If you are finding dead bees, it's not CCD. A CCD symptom is that the bees never come back, and you left with an (almost) empty hive.

Beyond that, CCD isn't a problem on the West Coast. At least not yet.

One would need much more information to determine the reason. Is there a mite or nosema problem? Robbing, pesticides,starvation,etc, etc? We could make all kinds of random guesses, but it would be best if you did some research, and a thorough inspection of your hives. Are there other local beekeepers more farmiliar with your situation that might be able to help you out?

In the philippines, aren't your bees apis cerana?

I have a few strips of apistan in my hives so i don't see mites in them. Robbing, pesticides and starvation all seem to be out of the question. Yes I'm asking around for help here and i just want to search the net for other possible answers. Yes we have apis cerana as our native bees. I started my bee keeping hobby with it but shifted to mellifera a few months ago. Apis cerana still needs a lot of research and development. It's still too wild and quite unpredictable. I still keep a few colonies of them though.

California uses a lot of pesticides. I would suspect that if you find dead bees. Perhaps one of your neighbors has been spraying.

I haven't found any dead bee's but I have noticed a severe decline here.

I work outside in the West LA/Marvista area I also keep finding dead bees all around the complex where my kids live. Mostly they are single bees but today we found a group of 4-6 dead bees on her front steps. It very disheartening and seems really odd.
