Don't know about the wine barrel, but Lowe's had some nice whiskey barrels earlier this year. I was at the Lowe's on Indian School a few weeks ago, they still had some.

Thanks Dusti. I looked at hoem depot, they only had half barrels as planters. These are too small for my tree.
Did the ones you saw at Lowes are the bigger ones?

Hi Amber, yes, these are big barrels, I transplanted my limequat and kumquat trees in them. The trees are around 8 to 9 feet tall. I've seen the planters at HD and they are smaller.

You can get some plastic drums and cut in half and put holes in them. Check craigslist. But those fig trees will out grow that in 1 year. The roots will grow out of the drainage holes and into the ground. It is a pain to root prune them in really big containers. Just use 15-20 gallon nursery pots. A lot easier.

I saw some in HD a few days ago.
