Linda - great images! I really like Venetian Red & Can Can. Del Mar Peninsula's form is similar to one that I grow - is it a rex?? Actually - I really like all of them!!

Hi, Joan:
I know it's a rhizo; but I don't know the difference between rex and rhizo. I *think* all rexes are rhizos but not all rhizos are rexes.

Others far more knowledgeable than I could clarify.

Thanks Linda - you're right, I think it is a rhizomatous. Look at my post Rex Begonia NOID #3 post - this is the one I'm talking about. The close-up is gone (I moved the image), but the one that's there should give you an idea.

Hi, Joan:
'Del Mar Peninsula' is a rhizo and its leaves are a dark, velvety chocolate color. A few leaves are variegated like 'Tiger Kitten' and 'Kit Kat' and aren't so velvety.

all rexes are rhizos and all "rex begonias" have the original B. rex species somewhere in their lineage.
