I'll have to look 'em up to give you a precise answer, but for either of them, QUICK! put it in a plastic bag, or a fish tank, or a bubble bowl--whatever you've got. They both need warmth and HIGH humidity. Do great here in the summertime. I'll be back with descriptions later.

I didn't think I'd have so much trouble finding information. There is a gorgeous picture of B. breviramosa on the American Begonia Society site, in the 'virtual greenhouse.' Thompson's 'Begonias' has a picture of the leaves side by side (in black and white!), except I'm pretty sure I read something somewhere updating that information, but I can't find it. You might ask on the begonia society forum. I'll keep looking.

According to Marc C. Tebbit's book "Begonias" B. exotica is actually B. brevirimosa subsp. exotica, and has been misidentified for years. The main difference between the species and the subspecies seems to be leaf coloration, namely purple and pink bands in exotica that are absent in the original species.

Welcome to GW, Joelle! Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, my B.exptica died :( I tried everythign I could, but it bit the dust. Will have to find one to trplace it. Anyone know of a source/have any to trade?

I had both at one time. I had exotica from Kartuz and brevirimosa var. Edinburgh from Logee's. The only difference I could see (from an untrained eye) was one had red stems and the other one had green stems. They both died in the winter so I agree with greenelbows - terrarium culture in the winter at the least. I have my second serratipetala (probably has same cultural needs) and it is taking over my terrarium.
