Don't give up so quickly. There are people on this site from Payson and Flagg. I am gardening @3400 with temps ranging from 12 to 110.
Colorado might be able to help. I know "Mile High Girl" is always on the Orchard and fruit site. You might try there, if you find we can't help. Just ask the Orchard guys where you go for help for gardening in Colorado etc. or @6500

There are a lot of forums to choose from. In addition to areas there are forums for specific kinds of plants. So I generally read/post in several different forums depending on the topic.

I normally assume Phoenix type climate just because trying to figure out a poster's area can be difficult. Get's kind of old having to ask each time.

I put "Phoenix AZ" in my profile's "Garden zone" instead of a hardiness zone so it appears in all my posts. Saves having to retype that info, or people having to ask.

I don't find a hardiness zone to be too helpful. I lived in San Jose CA before Phoenix and both are zone 9B but boy oh boy sure isn't the same climate.

Unfortunately not. A few years back some people tried to get the admin to allow a high desert gardening or something like that and were apparently turned down, or didn't want to take responsibility to be the moderator of that forum.

There are challenges to gardening at 6,500 ft. But they are hardly insurmountable. I had a collection of bookmarks. Plus I saw some updates last year.

There is no one source I am aware of. But there are several sources you can try to track down. In addition to Arizona, hit New Mexico (I know a permaculture group outside Flagstaff moved to another high altitude area in NM), California, Nevada (especially northern Nevada who has a really active group), Colorado, Utah and maybe northwest Texas. Cooperative Exchange, Master Gardeners, Permaculture. Focus on the high altitude towns/cities/counties. Start with your local.

Google: high altitude elevation gardening

I was campaigning a while back for High Desert and Low Desert instead of regional fora like AZ, UT, and NM. Seemed more useful to me. As much as I am certain plenty of folks would appreciate that change, I'm sure plenty of others would not. And we'd still have the same problem with folks in intermediate zones not knowing which to choose. Oh well...

Welcome letsharmonize!!!! I am in Chino Valley, Az. (4,500 ele) and I have also asked for a high desert forum on GW and got no positive response. They must think all of the gardeners in Arizona live in the south. Huge gardening differences...I like what Facist_Nation said to look into. Good luck!!!

Hey, the OP hasn't acknowledged our existence in over 12 days. AFAIAC this thread is dead.

As for NM gardening, I am fairly confident the moderator of Garden Web would approve that forum if someone asked and was willing to be the moderator of that forum (and do the moderating).

As for a dedicated Low or High Desert forums, I don't think it will happen here.
