I've got a small war going over the question of whether or not fennel and anise are the same thing. I know that they are not but most grocery store personel around here (Reno, Nev.) insist that they are. My quest is to identify what the supermarkets here are actually selling; anise or fennel. I have visited one internet site that showed a picture that looks exactly like what the stores are selling as anise and somebody else says it's fennel. The site called it anise. It had a bulb like fennel. Can anybody point me to a reliable source with a full picture of each?
