I am enjoying the first successful growth and flowering of Vriesea splendens! What a thrill!!

I expect Vriesea Splendide to begin flowering within a few days as well. I'm ecstatic!!!

I imported both from Alvim Seidel in 2004 as young plants. I have others to wait on for many years. Nothing like the first, though :o)

A recent writer recently asked about Neoregelia spectabilis var rubra--I have one of those from the same source. It was a mighty "rugged" looking plant on receipt last autumn. A full winter indoors seems to have "tamed" its appearance.
