Zombie

I received the Zombie I ordered from Gurney's today. What a tiny bulb with BIG beauty. The bulb is clean, dry, no rot. The roots are phenomenal. The bulb itself is quite small, however 3 spathes popping up, and the roots are really tremendous. I am planting up tomorrow in coir, this lil baby is ready to Rock 'n Roll. I am sorry I didn't order a 1/2 dozen more for just $5.95!

Just gorgeous, Cindee! I sure hope these little guys all make it and become happy bloomers, like yours! Those are great photos! I did a little surfing and found out that the orchid world is quite extensive! And the color combinations are stunning!

Paxfleur - I need to get a deeper pot for the Radicans... I had to plant it at an angle due to the position of the roots! Once I get a better pot for it, it will stand up straight! Today, we're going orchid supply shopping!

Yes, that Zombie is a beauty. I suppose now I am going to have to get into some doubles.

My Zombie is just sitting there with a scape peaking out. I hope it's busy growing roots.

Soultan...Your Zombie and Piccolo are nicely resting in my fridge inside a brown paperbag with your name. My second daughter said the other night that "Soultan" was a strange name to give to a flower...LOL!

Sorry about that here it is

Ohhhhhhhh yummy. Prime. Well worth the $5.95 price tag I paid. I didn't mind the shipping as I ordered a Fejoia Sellowena (Pineapple Guava) and a red raspberry plant. The raspberries won't come till Feb. but I got 2 for one. That more than covered the shipping!

Uh Oh...I did it and ordered 3 more!! Heck at 5.95 each and 5.95 shipping that is the price of just ONE bulb at some other places. I want to jazz up my circular bed around my Shady Lady Olive tree out front this winter. Maybe I'll get a couple more of those plain white ones too at Lowes to give it some Christmas color. Lord knows I will not be able to talk Dennis and Dan into trimming a tree for me after my surgery!! I'll need some color to look at out the front window. Soultan, don't say "I TOLD YA SO"!!

    Cindeea,
Zombie is a lovely double. I love doubles. I hope they come down in price soon, they are still around $20 to $25 here.
What do you do with the fejoia? They are a great fruit but not often eaten her in Australia. Mainly used to make jams. I have been crushing them up and using that in my cocktails. It has a great refreshing flavour.

In Hawaii, we savored feijoas as an snack! =) I remember on our hiking trips up mountains it was always an relief to pick a ripe crimson feijoa off a tree and eat it as an refreshment. The seeds are a bit bigger than the average guava fruit but we simply swallowed the fruit whole after giving it a slight peel. Good times, good times. =)

    Oh, Primeribs...

I will most likely offend you now, but if that is Zombie, I am disappointed... It does not look like the picture on Hadeco's site. I pray for better similarity.

    Cindee,

    I have told ya!

    Maria,

Just don't let you family eat the bulbs. They are poisonous... Your girls is so cute... This name is even strange for a person, not just a flower. :o)

SOULTAN....I told ya NOT to say it! LOL!!

Guys, I have never grown or tasted feijoas. I love their flowers and leaves and am planning to grow it as an ornamental. i have been wanting one for some time. I did not realize they get to be 15 feet tall and wide. This shall be a splendid addition to my tropical paradise....however, something else will have to go to make room for it. I may have to clear our some rain lilys and crinum lilys! Feijoa-very pretty!!

Here is a link that might be useful: Feijoa

I know you told me, but I know it meant you wanted me to say it... I can't wait out Royal Colors order to arrive already.

soultan you are a trip. I am glad you are my friend. you make me smile!!

Soultan...Don't worry, my family hates onions anyway. I can't wait either for my RC order to arrive.

Cindeea...He is nuts!!! But don't you just love him? :-)

I should stop misspelling, but when I jump here to read a thread and answer, I do it speedily, so I often don't proof-read. Sorry about it guys... But I have just made some pictures outside again, so I will try to find the thread I kept on posting the amaryllis pictures, then the one where I promised Jodi pictures of my roses... But it might happen a little later... I am back to work now. Good day for you.

    Offend....WHAT??????????

Trust me you will not be disappointed. Thats just a really bad photo of a really nice flower. I mean honestly who was messin' with the color and who took that photo ;)

prime just remember Soultan has a keen eye, and he may just see a coloration error or something.

and he would be right cindeea, the color on my pic is all messed up. My pictures don't do it justice.

Dang it! I just received my last order from Gurney's a week ago. I checked the confirmation order this morning and the 3 new bulbs will not ship until fall 2008! What's up with that??? I told them to cancel my order. I went to Walmart and Lowes to get some ordinary Red Lions, Minervas, and Apple Blossoms for my circular bed. They had unpackaged Red Lions at WalMart for just $3.34. I also found a nice Pink Diamond and a Happiness for $6.98 which I will pot together. Then I went across the street and got 2 Minerva and 2 Apple Blossom for $3.98 to plant in the circular bed with the Red Lions. OK DONE DONE DONE buying Amaryllis. This time I mean it!

Oh, Cindee, won't you buy a Pink Diamond and a Happiness for me too? Please, Please, Please? I am tring to get Pink Diamond for ages now, but it always runs away! We can do the cross country package sending again...

    Prime,
I like to believe that you took that picture just when the flower started to wilt. I can't wait to get mine from Maria, and meet the bloom face to face... I am so interested seeing how a really Zombie looks like.

And I came home today with a $4plus Piquant grow kit from an hour drive to Morristown, TN :-(

soultan, I asked you on the WalMart post if you want me to pick some out for you. I am going to the dentist tomorrow and will be going right by there. Good bulbs for just 6.98. Tell me if you want any of the others too.

'Exotic star', 'Charisma', 'Happiness', 'Pink Diamond', 'Stargazer', 'Gran Cru', 'Sumatra'.

I'll check my email before I leave in the morning.

    Orders for WalMart, LAST CALL>

I got Soultan's Happiness and Pink Diamond.

I have a request from maria for Sumatra and Grand Cru

Jodi, speak up now or forever hold your peace! I will make one last trip over there Friday.

One Sumatra please! And a Charisma, if you can.. That's it! Thank you very much! I hope this isn't too late...

OK Kids-I will go tomorrow maybe since they are running low. This way I can get all packages off at once.

Soultan, you are gonna love your bulbs. The ladies there thought I was crazy..."nope, definately NOT, maybr, YES Perfect." I had every bulb spread out on the floor!!

You were just like me, Cindee,
I just went back today to exchange Maria's Nagano, because I discovered that there was a little rot on the side under the papery cover layer... They exchanged it for me, and I took the whole box, went to a garden desk, and poured the box all over it and made my selection...
I am sorry I did not get your message earlier about the other varieties. I had a crazy schedule yesterday, and I don't even remember when I went to sleep.
    Thank you for your efforts.

I think we all do the same thing... go through every single box and bulb, looking for the best one! I know I do! The salespeople can think what they want... I want to leave the store knowing I made the best selections and got my money's worth!

When I bought my first 3 local bulbs this year, I had boxes spread all over the floor, and I opened them all and checked each bulb... but I know that I got the 3 best ones! The sales lady was looking at me kind of funny, like "oh no, it's another one of those amaryllis nuts!" Actually, I sort of like freaking them out a little! Hehe!

    Yayyyyyy!!! Thanks girlfriend!

    Maria,

Are you copying me? You were not like me? You were buying for fun. Now you are buying everything that has name attached to it. :o) Isn't it fun?

FUN???? It's a freaking addicition. But seriously, I hope they find no cure. Well, I will be off to Walmart shortly to collect all of your babies.

Soultan...No I am not! Did you see me order Happiness and Pink Diamond from Cindeea? I am a 'little bit' choosy now. I have to save some $$$ for the girl's X'mas gifts and put aside my wants now. :-)

OK you two duke it out while I got to WalMart. Honestly Jodi, I think they are going to need a referee to keep an eye on them! lol!

LOL Cindeea! Now I know you got brown eyes!

Repeat: 'little bit' choosy... Soultan, you know I can if I want to. But the fridge is almost full of bulbs now and our Wayside order is coming in this afternoon and then the KVB order. And then I got bulbs in your side, RC coming in too and I know I will be purchasing more bulbs in Thanksgiving trip. I don't want to be overwhelmed to the point that I won't be enjoying the ammies anymore. I don't need additional stress in my life. So let's just have some fun. :-)

OK, my mission is complete. Again, supplies dwindling. Jodi, only 2 Charisma left one with plenty roots but dried and dead top. I chose the other for you, fewer roots, but healthy green growth top and very clean.

I took the liberty of cleaning all the dead spaghetty roots off most of everyone's bulbs, plus I wanted to inspect for rot or problems. This way, they are all clean, you will be able to pot them up right away without procrastinating. (Soultan-are you listening?) LOL I expect you to plant these upon arrival! I will email each of you the calculated end product after shipment. Enjoy your day...snip snip!

While sifting through bulbs, a bunch of the loose 3.34 red lion bulbs has blooms. I snipped off as many pollinators for Maria as I could, luckily, I was able to take the cellophane wrap from my cigarette pack and slip them in! LOL They were just going to go to waste!

Thank you very much, Cindee! I completely trust your judgment in choosing plant materials...

Before you stick mine in the mail, we need to discuss shipping options, which I will pay for, because the temperatures up this way just dropped drastically... it is officially winter!

I will email you a bit later today... I've gotta get a few things done first...

I didn't know we needed a referee for those two! LOL! I think they were good while you were gone, though! :-)

Well, I really hope you all appreciate the bulbs I selected. I mostly looked for clean dry bulbs, best roots I could get and green tops. They varied quite a bit. Buying bulbs for other collectors can be daunting. Jodi, let me know ASAP as I want to go to the post office tomorrow.

Soultan I think I might have taken the pic as the flower was wilting. Good eye on that!

Cindee - I emailed you, my dear... and thank you again for choosing and buying the bulbs! I know you got the very best choices!

I'm gonna skim the messages and then go back to bed... not feeling well today...

Prime, if you did, then I am glad... I expect Zombie to be spectacular. :o)

Cindee, thank you for all the trouble you are going through getting these bulbs and even making pictures and sharing them. You start to resemble a relative in Florida who takes pictures of everything he sees. And his favorite subject is his wife. He even takes pictures of restrooms, cars, kitchen sinks. Everything. The RC order should arrive soon, but I will keep it back at my place for a while till the other bulbs arrive, then send everything together, probably after you are feeling better after your successful surgery. Is that a deal, or you prefer your RC bulbs right away?

Soultan, refresh my memory...what are you getting for me again? lol All these bulbs...I can't remember! You can hold off until you get them both. If ya need some filler, just toss Toto in too for padding.

No, no, no, no, sorry. Toto will stay with me for sure. Though you can have a piece of him. I will trim his hair soon, so he'd be a handsome little boy. So I can send his hair to you. :o) Wouldn't that be weird?

Ohhh Ya...way too weird, I ain't into VooDoo HooDoo anything! I got enough fur about with my two furr ball cats!

But he is a handsome little devil, isn't he?:

    {{gwi:436793}}
    Toto

Talking about Voodoo. I could still not buy Voodoo, unless Naughty Lady indeed IS Voodoo... But if I see Voodoo offered anywhere for a good price, I might still get it.

Soultan, he's too cute for words! I almost got you a clay planter in the shape of a Scottie when I went to the flea market, but I didn't know if you'd like it or not... it wasn't quite Toto... it had long hair, not cut like Toto's... so I didn't get it... but I'm watching for one that looks more like him!

Oh Soultan. I am in love with Toto. He is so handsome! I want to hug him but I am afraid I'd muss up his hair and scratch him behind the ears. Is he as regal acting as he looks in the photograph? What a doll! I hope he likes his present I sent him. You do let him play, don't you??

Jodi, Cindee, thank you for the kind words. He is my joy and pride... And no, he is not as regal as he look on this picture. He is more of a cuddly perpetum mobile.
And I let him play. Oh yes, I do. He has more toys than the number of my bulbs. :o) He also gets birthday and Christmas presents. And you don't have to be afraid to cuddle up with him. He shakes himself after and he is good lookig again, no matter how messed up you leave him. :o)
Jodi, the Scottie planter must have looked funny. I am amazed how much you are into digging up gems that might be lost because other people do not care about them. I often see garage sales and yard sales, but I am too weary to go there. Most of the time these owners want to talk to you, and I am so antisocial. I like to be left alone when I examine things and never be talked into something or just chat about family history or sentimental values... I know it does not seem like based my "diarrhea of the hands" here, but I am pretty shy in real life. :o) But not Toto... He is a really good body guard dog... He will lick you to death!
I must upload another pic of him here, so that we stay true to the amaryllis forum:

Oh I just love that photo. It looks like he is in some swanky restaurant waiting for service! lol

He was cute. I was trying to make pictures of my flowers and he always laid down right in front of me just behind the flowers... I just couldn't resist taking some pictures before removing him from the frame.

Ohhhh...just like Ana. She would slowly put her face beside my flower when I am taking pics of the ammies. And then produces a big smile...

    Toto has such beautiful eyes...

Yes. His eyes are clear, open, and sincere.
