Master Gardener Presentation

Last night VJHale and I made a presentation to the Oakland County Master Gardeners (Michigan). 55 members attended.

Vickie created a fantastic powerpoint presentation.

The response from the group was great and the interest after the presentation was excellent

    Power Point? That's awesome!

That's so cool! That was a big group of people--think of all the pot ghettos that may result from last night!

Master Gardeners are such an asset to their communities. I know you suggested that they all come over and join THIS community of supportive people as they begin their WS journey! I have learned so much here and even though I have had my first successful WS season this year, I still check almost every day to see what's being chatted about!

I am making a presentation to my garden club in February. Any chance getting a copy of your PP? Love to see it!

I really enjoyed the PP! What a great job you've both done!

Wow. That's great. I gave a presentation to my garden club in October. A PP presentation would have been very nice, but I just wasn't that organized! Several members are going to be WSing next month! Some of them still can't believe that it works, but seeing is believing!

Thanks Ron and Trudi. It was a labor of love putting the powerpoint presentation together. The the real thanks goes to all the people who have posted pictures on the gardenweb. I used many of them, and apologize for not getting permission from you all. There are a few things I will be adding to the presentation now that I've gotten a response to it (in case we want to do another presentation Ron). Ron is great to do a presentation with, a super public speaker.

If anyone would like to see the presentation I have a link to it on the bottom of my member page.

And if anyone prefers to have their pictures removed LMK. (BTW there are a few fonts that are needed to view the headings correctly but can be viewed without them.)

Here is a link that might be useful: vjhale member page

    That PP is terrific!

I recognize most of the pictures there. I not only am familiar with them, I knew who many belonged to...PV's balcony, Pitimpiani's garden... And was shocked to see my yard pop up! Does this mean I spend to much time here?

Great job, and I'm sure the whole presentation was, too.

    Vickie:
Fantastic power point....I might ask to use this sometime in the future. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, you really did a great job! I am sending your link to one of my friends who I am trying to get started on wintersowing this year. I can't think of anything you could do to improve this.

I think you are going to get a lot of requests from others to use this for their garden clubs.

Terrific presentation - engaging and educational. I also can't think of a thing that's missing accept maybe to warn folks about the "seed saving/seed trading/seed buying" addiction that seems to come with starting WSing!

I've just sent a link to the PP presentation off to the person who runs the Master Gardener program in my county. I think a chapter on Ws should be included in the Master Gardener course! They get over a hundred hours of training here, this wouldn't take more than a couple of those!

Fantastic Presentation! I'm still a bit new at Winter Sowing and the process simply amazes me. You did a wonderful job sharing the process. Keep up the good work.

Talk about timely! I am making a presentation to my Master Gardener group on Thursday and was just creating more Power Point slides. ronald and vjhale, do you mind if I include a few of your slides in my presentation? I did not have many pictures to show and would love to use a few of the slides that show so much of the process.
If that is okay, thanks in advance. I have already thanked Trudi who responded to my e-mail some time ago with some additional information about winter sowing. I winter sowed for the first time in 2007 and really enjoyed it and hope others will try it as well.

Its Vickie's presentation but I'm sure she won't mind.

I really enjoyed your presentation. I am also introducing my garden club members to winter sowing at our February meeting. I was planning to give them all a precut and soil filled 2 liter bottle and let them choose some seeds from my stash. I figure if I get them all hooked I will have that many more people with whom to trade seeds! Thanks everyone!

Okay, what am I doing wrong? Why can't I see this? I have PP Viewer on my computer - do I need something else?

    Hey guys,

    Great Presentation!!!!!
Just yesterday I did a presentation for a local garden club, boy would this been helpful, hint, hint. Can I use it for my next one?? I would be forever grateful...Susan

Thanks for the nice reviews everyone. If you are interested in using the presentation please email me directly. I can give you a list of fonts to view it correctly, etc. And after giving it to a group there really were just a couple of things I'd like to add, along with an error that needs fixing, which I hope to get to shortly.

Drippy, I'm sorry you're having trouble viewing. There are about 3 links you need to click through, and it will take a minute to open - it's over 17 mgs.

kqcrna - I'm glad you were happy to find your yard there, I'd say you were spending just the right amount of time out there!

I gave a program on Winter Sowing to the Master Gardener group here last week (using my own PowerPoint presentation) and there was a lot of interest in the topic. So, those of you who enjoy winter sowing, make sure to share the idea with your garden groups!
I thought that November would be the best time of the year to do this - many of us are gathering seeds from our gardens and this gives newcomers time to collect some containers before it is time to sow.
