What is a good fertilizer to use on brugs and how often? What about using a bloom buster to get brugs to bloom?

these ladys are heavy feeders. I plant mine with alittle steer manure and bonemeal mixted in the potting soil and "Away they go". Weekly I feed them Peters plant food diluted in water. As they get taller and more flush with leaves then I give them a treat of of tomatoe food dug into the soil once a month, but still feed them Peters weekly. They preform in bloom all through the season.I prefer my brugs to mature naturally and to develope a strong frame to support all the blooms and not be forced into bloom to soon. But everyone has their own way growing these wonderful plants. The main thing is they like to be fed.***Suzanne

I've been having pretty good luck feeding mine with a 12-6-8 with micronutrients every weekend. I cut back on the amount over the last couple months, but still kept with the weekly feedings, and have been rewarded with plants continually flushed with hundreds of blooms. Dave

so is using osmocote a good idea or not?

flower..Osmacote is always a good idea. It is a must have product for any plants.Although it is a slow release fertilizer, and these Brugs are hungry feeders,I believe they need large amounts of nurishment often because they grow so fast. And the slow release Osmacote does NOT give this when needed. My opinnon is that your better off feeding a diluted fertilizer once a week so it gets to the plant fast, because of it's growth pattern, like Miricle grow or Peters.I also like feeding some solids. These girls eat every thing anytime:)***Suzanne

I've got 18 brugs in 4 inch pots in my living room. what I need to know is how do I know how much diluted miracle grow should i give each pot? I started these from cuttings and have about 10 more cuttings waiting to be potted. anyone have any suggestions. I usually mix my mg in a gallon milk jug.

flower....water your brugs with plain water first, when you can see they are watered throughly and water is running out of the bottom of the pots, let them drain good. Then fertilize each pot with enough to make them drip through the bottom again. And your good to go for a week!***Suzanne

flowerchild5, we don't use MG as it adds to much salt to the plant and can eat cement driveways. If you are using a gallon jug just half of what the direction states. I would just water them once with the fertilizer mix and let them sit in it for an hour to soak up what they need then dump the tray. Try Peters, it's much better.

I agree! I also get them off to a "jump start" with Maxicrop(liquid seaweed).

Flower...for the young brugs your starting, 1/2 strength fertilizer is what you start out with. But flush them out first with just plain water to remove the salt content, then fertilize at 1/2 of the strength of what it calls for. I would believe that it would be (1) Tab. per gallon, so cut this in half useing 1/2 Tab. per gallon. But I do agree with Karma...if you can find Peters, buy some.It is far superior than Miricle grow. And you would then feed 1/2 strength until they grow a strong frame and start to bush out well. Then hit them with the full strength and what ever you want their diet to consist of:)I never fertilize a containerized plant first, without flushing it out first with water.***Suzanne
