As much as I really love all the Neoregelia carcharodon varieties, and now those of the pernambucana/silvomomtana/gigas questionable complex, I only own one N. carcharodon Tiger. I paid over AUD$200 for the Tiger, from Mr Z - the original importer.

We in Oz cannot order from Michael's nursery, without extreme cost, paperwork, toxic spraying, and many months in quarantine. There are several varieties in Australia grown by only a few folk, and the waiting list is sooooooo long... :(

I would love to try growing some by seed, and Derek B. suggested I try importing some from Brazil. But that is now impossible. Brazil is completely closed to exportation due to "the government thinking they are losing biodiversity - while they are quite happy to allow total habitat destruction." hmmm....

I drool over those pics shown by bromnuts on this forum from U.S.,Thailand, Malaysia, Europe(?) and South Africa - who all seem to have easier access to these treasures.

SO, here is my plea.

If anyone might have access to selfed-seed of any of the species carcharodon varieties, and who would be happy to post me some, I would be eternally grateful. I am happy to buy them, or maybe offer seed to swap. My email addy can be viewed on MyPage.

Thank you.

Cheers,

Kerry
