What do I do with these things now?

Hey all! I have 5 amaryllis bulbs that I am trying to keep alive and progressing but I am confused. They haven't flowered since their original flowering right after I bought them a few years ago. I wasn't giving them enough light to make new bulbs.

So this summer, I put them out on the back porch all summer...they got tons and light and rewarded me with tons of leaves! Once temps started getting colder, their leaves started dying back so I brought them into my garage. I trimmed the rest of the dead leaves and thought that I would just keep them on the shelf until spring.

But the other day I noticed green leaves growing again from 4 of the 5 of them! So what do I do now? I REALLY want them to flower but I don't know how to get them to...can they keep growing in the garage? It will be cool in there all winter (I live in Ohio)...should I move them?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I think your questions have already been answered....if you read the other posts on this forum.

Did you fertilize your amaryllis during its leafy period? I take from reading the other posts here that rose fertilizer is what some use. Or a fertilizer with a low middle number according to some.

Some need a rest period and some don't. With then starting to grow.......I think I would bring them in and give them lots of light. If a flower stem doesn't appear...start fertilizing often.....and read the other posts on this forum for more information.

What you did is what everyone that grows Amaryllis does to ge them to flower in our area. Take it inside and give it the care it needs, light, water, fertilizer. You should get flowers in a few weeks. Next summer and fall do exactly what you did this past one and start all over. You may want to pot it in fresh soil now if it is bareroot.
