I was just wandering but I saw this and thats not a bromliad at all its a succulent looks like agave or centry plant but still go to the succulent form to try get proper identity but im just giveing you a rough guess

Greenthumb, thanks so much for the response. I too have my doubts about this plant being a bromeliad, but a few people suggested that this is what it is so I am trying to keep an open mind about it. My best guess is that it is a species of furcraea and more closely related to an agave like you suggested. I actually first tried posting at the succulent forum, but nobody knew for sure (i.e. could identify the species)and it was there that I first heard the suggestion that it looked like a brom. I have posted on several different forums now and even emailed a few people that I thought might be able to id it, and it remains a mystery plant! I have come across someone with the exact same plant, but he doesn't know for sure what it is either, but is certain that it is not a brom.

Your welcome but I have heard you can email a picture to your local botanical gardens for example mine is the Atlanta Botanical Gardens maybe they will ID this mystery plant.

Your plant could be in the Bromelia family but without a bloom it is just a guess. Check out FCBS.org under that genus.
