I am presuming that this would probably be a a species and if i was going to have a guess i would say either-
vriesia garlippiana from Brazil or
vriesia elata from Columbia
It is not showing any flowers yet so hard to say.
Lovely plant and great flower spike.

Kind of looks like deppeana which Smith lists as being found in Magdalena and Cundinamarca. What state did you find it in?

My mistake, Smith listed T. deppeana var latifolia as being from Columbia, but that is now T. fendleri.

Of course it would help to see the flowers, but even without them T. platyrhachis looks like a solid match to me.

Thank you again everyone. I returned to the site and realized the plant was placed there at the entrance to someone´s wooded lot and not growing naturally. I knew I hadn´t seen anything like it around here before. Therefore I can´t say it´s native to the area (Eastern slope of the Western Cordillera in Valle De Cauca Department). In fact I can´t even say it´s native to Colombia as on my own property there are some Aechmea distichantha planted by the former owner which I gather are native to Brazil. So this plant may very well have been purchased at a greenhouse in Cali and brought to the site. It looked like it was starting to flower so I will photograph those and post.

I am sure it is not T platyrhachis. The leaf edges aren't right for that plant

T. wagneriana comes close. HD mentioned the leaf margins which resemble wagneriana more so than platyrachis.
