Oh joy! Mine arrived today too. What a wonderful bunch of red and pink flowers and stuff for hummers! Also your very own pineapple sage (really wanted those). I saw some at a local nursery, and just for kicks I picked a leaf and crushed it, and it smelled just like pineapple.

I'm thrilled! Thanks so much for all your hard work on your days off.

Dawiff, and any others that are growing pineapple sage, remember, it's a tender perennial. It's only hardy to zone 8 and doesn't bloom until late August, usually. Plant it where it can get a lot of sun, a lot of heat (mine was next to a concrete driveway), and make sure there's a seat nearby for when the hummer find it. I've got reseeded babies out there now, still braving the winter weather. It's been down in the mid 20s a couple times and they're sitting there with the first leaves. I'm wondering if they'll last the winter.

A recipe tip: Use it on pizza. Prebaked thin crust. Spread tomato sauce. Add fresh tomatoes from the garden, bits of ham, and pineapple sage leaves. Cover with cheese and bake til golden bubbly. It's also good as a substitute for mint in Thai dishes. And makes a refreshing cocktail along the lines of a mint julep.

Oh, and be sure to give it room. It can grow over 5' tall and 4' wide in just one season.

What started as this...

Becomes this. I planted 6 plants here. Two were removed to add the fence. So you're seeing parts of 4 plants.

Hmmmph ... no package again today! That's what I get for living in such a small town. Hope it gets here before Christmas.

Bonnie

If it helps, I'm as nervous as you all are. I want everyone to get their packages back ASAP. Extending the deadline meant very long waits for a few people.

Pattie

Got the package yesterday, but had to work so didn't get to open until this morning. What a wonderful surprise, most were on my wish list and some I have to look up. Thanks to everyone for the awesome seeds and to token for being the host!!! GREAT

Carol

Thanks for the advice on the pineapple sage. Despite the Seattle area being Zone 7/8, we don't usually get a lot of heat in the summer. But I do have a nice spot near a front window, near concrete, that gets good afternoon sun, so I think I'll try it there. I have some red bee balm planted there too, so hopefully it will draw the hummers. Looking forward to growing it and seeing them.

Thank again for the work you did sorting this swap out. I got some wonderful seeds!

TOKEN, I received my wonderful package of seeds yesterday. Thank you to all who participated with their wonderful contributions. I received a fantastic variety of seeds...seeds...seeds.

Received my seeds yesterday. Thank you, token, and all who contributed. Nice seeds.

Still no package. Did you drop them in a mailbox, or take them to the counter at the post office? I'm wondering if I sent enough postage?

Highalt, they were dropped at the counter. So far, nothing has been returned. I can't remember about your postage. Sorry. I really hope they make it. You had some private trades in there too.

Oh, but she didn't actually check each one. She just put them behind the counter into the rolling cart.
