Hi,

I only have one pot of Bromeliad. It had a "pup" two years ago, and now there are two beauties in the pot. To tell you the truth, I cannot tell which one is Mom!

It looks like plantman's #34 (100_0145) in his fantastic collection. Kinda of a powdery sea green color with horizontal bands. Really pretty, but I do not know what variety it is.

My cousin gave it to me and she is from Hawaii. She also gave me a Jacqueranda tree and a few other tropicals, like some beautiful Ginger plants, which are making buds for the first time. I am so excited.

My Bromelaid has never bloomed yet, but it looks great. Healthy and happy.

I set my tropicals out by the Koi pond in late spring and they enjoy the mist spray I set to spray into the pond. The Koi like to play Lojdon Bridges through the spray. They line up and then dash through the spray, circlin around and do it again.

The Breezes carry the mist to the surrounding tropicals and they do great in that setting all summer. The area is shaded by a Crabapple and an apple tree and a tall Corkscrew Willow I grew from a cutting. There are Nandina bushes and damask roses and Hostas amongst the rocks below the pond. It smells great and looks lush. The Bromelaid loves this environment. I set her on a special stump near the pond and everyone admires her.

Garden spiders love to make traps in the center that fill with water every summer. They don't seem to do the Bromelaids any harm, so I let them camp out in there and catch insects that come in to go skinny dipping.

My cousin set it in a clay pot and anchored it in black lava rocks. Looks really cool, and the rocks are also a reminder of Hawaii, from whence it came. I also like to collect rock specimans, so is extra nice.

My Bromelaid is not as big as plantman's...YET, but it is growing. Hope I can build a bigger greenhouse soon. My tropicals are growing really fast!

So, can you tell me her name?

What does she need to bloom?

Thank you all for all the great information I am reading about them. What a great plant.

Annie
