Brown cat on dill

I found a brown twig-looking cat on my dill. I've never found anything but black swallowtail cats.

And by now, I usually have at least a dozen or two cats.

So far, i have only found only four. I wondered if the presence of this brown cat repels the swallowtails from laying eggs?

I didn't save the brown cat (regret that, cause it's gone) to find out what it was. Anyone have any info? Search turned up only black swallowtails using dill for host.

I'm finishing up raising a load of red admirals and question marks. Along the way, I ended up bringing in 3 unknown caterpillars. When the moths eclosed, I was able to identify them. Stinging nettles were not among their known hostplants.

There are thousands of moths who lives are not well documented. Plus, thousands of moth caterpillars are willing to eat lots of different things. Those two facts add up to you not finding any records of that caterpillar eating dill. Thus is the life of us caterpillar people. ;)

Since you said "twig-looking", I wonder if it could've been an inchworm of some kind. I see those on lots of different things. I can't recall if I've ever seen them on dill though.
