Is that red colour sun exposure or is this one of them variegates?

I had this and my other one in full sun from 7am to 8pm everyday. Both were treated the same. It was redder but now it has lost some color.

Sunburn, ouch,looks painful! ;)

How come my other one didn't change color, only the spines turned red.

That looks like my F. pilosus, which is slightly larger. They seem to prefer dappled sunlight, unless you want the deep red. Be cautious though, they will scorch easily when young like this! Here's a photo of mine this year. It has put on considerable growth this season!

Dawn,
Has it been exposed to any cool or cold temps yet? I have had several Echinopsis turn red like that when exposed to cold temps. Usually sunburn on cactus causes a paler skin, excessive sun may turn some a little red on edges, this looks like cool/cold temp at work. Should turn normal color when exposed to normal temps. I've had this happen to one plant and not another when side by side even.

Dan, I brought this in before the cold temps came along. The night temps were 60F when I brought it in. I set it on a south-west windowsil. Is 60F considered cool for these plants?

Stunning ... although a little scary.

It started turning red like this about a couple of weeks before I brought it in. The day temps were about 80-85F. and night temps were in the low to mid 60F. I like how it turned like this. Its definately different.
