Its a very dull day here in the West of England with light drizzle, looking back to some pictures I took in the spring I found this one. What could be more cheerful on a dull day. Peter
I'm also a rebutia fan. This looks lovely. Thanks for sharing it. We won't be seeing any displays like that for nearly half a year now.
We had the dull drizzley weather here too. In fact, it is still dull and dreary today but it certainly isn't cold, just very humid. I've been doing some more bubble-wrapping of the greenhouses today in preperation for winter. The Met office reckon we are going to have a colder than usual winter this year. Well, only time will tell but it's still best to prepare for the possibility.
Im worried about the humidity level in the greenhouse combined with the cold! I had to water the plants the other day cos it was a scorcher and then it went all grey and damp lettuce like! High humidity under the hotbox but I have no heating yet so they go in that overnight.
It's raining down here at the moment too, our spring weather is always unpredictable... cold & wet one day, warm and sunny the next, windy and overcast another day... some of my plants are saying... "Im gonna skip spring, wake me up when summer comes"! Larry, you're not alone there... sometimes I think my glasshouse hose is attached to the rain clouds, cause whenever I water in the glasshouse, it rains for a few days after.
Well, the rain has moved in as predicted, what a miserable day?
Greenlarry. Even if there are hot days at this time of year, try not to water your plants because if the weather suddenly goes cold, your plants will be sitting there with damp potting medium, not good and, at this time of year, it can take some pots ages to dry out, even if they have plenty of drainage material like grit and such in them. Mine haven't been watered since the end of August and, even with the hot days we've had, my lobivia formosa still has wet potting medium even with lots of sand, vermiculite and grit in it. I never lost anything from leaving them without water during this time, I only lost plants that were still wet when the cold weather came in. With our high humidity levels, this is especially important as it is with certain types like echinocereus.
