Hard to tell with this photo. Was it grown outside in Colorado? Is it native to Colorado, if so where in colorado?

yes it was grown outside the pads are pretty old in age . no not nativ , an the spines arnt hooked just shooting straighout.

It looks more like a Opuntia phaecantha than a O. polycantha. There are many local variations on these species. This site shows you the variability within these species. One can cruise around this site for more possibility One can see that at Cold Hardy Cactus Nursery and Intermountain .

One can google Opuntia englemanii. They grow a but more upright than the ground hugging O. phaecantha.

i think it is a pheaecantha , but I seen a pjhoto of a cactus that does resemble it , opuntia spinosibacca. its a natural cross between pheaecatha x aureispina.

I don't think it is O. spinosibacca. It is vicious. I have one I call Sid Vicious. Sid for short. It is full of some serious needles and it has some serious glochids too.

im all with u. but the guy sent these he clipped the spines, too long. im just waiting till it roots to ssee what it really looks like
