Goodness gracious and I thought there were a lot of Karen's here. lol I have done this before but only a couple times and some of those were by accident. I think it probably works best with mature wood cuttings and this time of year is very good for rooting brugs. Probably better then the winter because they've entered a period of active growth. The only problem I had was trying to cut the stem into sections, each containing a plant, once it rooted and the branches sprouted. A very sharp knife or a sharp pair of clippers will work.

I had some small green pieces that I did this way just to see if it would work and one rooted out of 3 but I didn't do anything special to it. They will root much easier now than in winter I would think. Just don't bury the log all they way. Leave the upper half exposed. I covered one pot with clear plastic and that one rotted so I would just leave it open and moist. The other one didn't get enough water I think.

I did a few last yr and I had better results with water.. A friend of mine fills a bucket up with sand and keeps the water level up and just plunks them in.. She has excellent results.. I haven't tried it yet... but she swears by it...
Thought I would give it a go when it is time to cut...

I've tried rooting a few brugs using the log method but the only one that worked for me was Rosa Traum and it did beautifully that way. Most of mine I root in about 1-2 inches of water. I may give the sand method a try, too, Kylie.

Thanks Kylie, I am going to try it on one of my brugs. I have rooted them in water before, but lost as many as rooted. I am always looking for a new method. Linda
