Japonica or sasanqua?

Hi! I purchased a lovely camellia that is currently loaded with buds. Only a couple have opened since the fall. The nursery couldn't remember whether the plant was a sasanqua or japonica. Is there anyone on this site who can give me specific ways of telling the two varieties apart?

Appreciate your help.

It probably is a Japonica if it currently is loaded with buds. A Sasanqua would be finished blooming by now and therefore would not have any buds. Also, Japonica's have glossy leaves, Sasanqua's have rather dull looking leaves.

Camellia japonica is stiff, C. sasanqua willowy.

The petals of sasanquas fall off & litter the ground one by one. The japonicas entire bloom will fall off in one piece.

Thanks to all of you who have answered my question. I believe that my plant is a japonica variety Kumasaka.
