They should open when the plant is good and ready. Maintain the soil mulched and moist, specially if the ground does not freeze where you live & the weather is dry.

Last year, some of my December flowering camellias bloomed in March. So just wait and keep and eye so you do not miss the flowers.

We've been warm and dry, so our local camellia nursery told me to keep my camellias watered every day. This amount of watering may not apply to your location, but check to see that yours are being watered enough for your climate.

We just moved into our new home on November 7. Part of our landscaping included two large camellia bushes and a long row of the miniature ones. All are loaded with buds and I am so anxious for them to bloom! It will be a beautiful sight!

I'm in agreement with Luis. If your plant looks healthy, it'll open its blooms when it is time for it to do so. I haven't seen a camellia yet that hasn't been worth the wait!

Maybe those aren't the buds but are new branches/ foliage?

If they're thinner and are pencil point shaped, they are new branches/ leaves.

The buds on my Kramers Supreme are about the size of the tip of my thumb. They are nickel sized circumference and don't usually open till late january/ early february.

Same deal on a Ave Maria, buds that look like little cabbages, but need some time to cook before they pop.
