I have nine large pots of cannas, stuttgart, cleopatra, pretoria, durban, noids. In previous winters we clustered them together on the back patio and wrapped with a tarp and they were fine. This past winter,we put them in the shed because we had an unusually severe winter. It is a wood framed shed on a cement slab but isn't insulated. It got down to 15*F.
I have no new growth on any of them. I dumped one out and all growing points are mushy. Didn't smell rotten but don't look good. There are firm sections in the middle of the rhizomes but no green/red growing points at all. I cut off all the mushy stuff and potted the firm sections but I am not sure that they will grow? Don't want to go through all that work with the rest if they are toast...
