I ordered some wafer ash seeds and the directions on the package said to soak seeds 24 hours, put in a baggy in fridge for 120 days, and then plant 1-2" deep, mulch, and keep area moist. It also said they could be planted outside in the fall for spring germination. They do need exposure to cold, or cold stratification, to germinate.

Is it colima (prickly lime ash) you are talking about? If so, one of our local butterfly parks started some from seed in March. The naturalist just stuck them in pots and has them under netting for diffused sunlight. They are about 4" tall now. Didn't realize it would take that long for them to get started. They are so abundant out in the wild. We're in zone 9b...always warm and sunny.

I really don't know. All I know it by is prickly ash, guess I will have to do a little study.
