I believe that you will find them all shrivelled up and not viable in the spring. You might try a couple that way, but those that you can spare. Others you might want to clean well, split with a viable eye on each piece, dry a little, add fungicide ( bulb dust), wrap individually in recycled grocery bags as tightly as you can to prevent dehydration, store these bags in a cardboard box in a cool, but not cold basement away from light. That's what I do will little to no loss.

I have done that, it works fine as long as the rhizomes are large & healthy, and the cool closet is cool enough to keep them dormant. I keep mine in my attached, unheated garage. I don't tend to divide til I get ready to plant in the spring. If the rhizomes are on the smallish side though, this does not work well, & I pot them up & bring them inside as a house plant.

I suggest storing them in a medium such as a fine wood mulch or some spagnum and maybe sawdust combined. You don't want the tubers to dry out.
