Milkweed cuttings

Do cut stems of milkweed hold up OK in water? I am trying to transfer my biggest cats out of plastic containers. I put a cut stem in a jar of water (sealed with plastic wrap) and pinned the old leaves in place. Parsley holds up very well with this method. How does milkweed do?

Milkweed holds up very well. You can also use that Oasis floral foam.

I did pretty much the same thing and it would last two or three days as I recall. I think they were eating enough at that point that I had to put more in every couple days anyway.
