Great going Marg! Many of those you listed are perennials which will bloom in their second year,but I had Coreopsis (two varieties) last year and they were wonderful. Bloomed right up to the frost. I was afraid they might re-seed all over the place, but so far I haven't seen any. Of course, I'm also fairly consistent with whacking eveything off in the Fall. The Malva might also bloom in it's first year. I tried the tape under the container my first year, but it became a drag having to lift the container up and look under it to see what it contained. I now use the Lee Valley marker - endures all weather and lasts a long time. As far as identifying what you have, the folk on this forum are amazing. You may also try the seed site it has lots of seedling pics.

Thanks for the tip about the marker. I'll have to pick one up next time we're in there. I checked my w/s a while ago and my Jacobs Ladder is up. I had 'Blue Pearl', never could tell if it was fragrant or not because it was right beside my wallflower, but a few stems came up white. I collected some seeds from the white and am hoping that the w/s ones are white and not blue. Hopefully some will be white. I have the malva and some of them did bloom the first year. Marg

Yep, I have to second that Lee Valley marker. Just bought a new one since the fine tip one started going on the blink after 3 years. I can still see all my markings from last year clearly. Good one.

I was going to do Astrantia this year and I don't know what happened but I never got to it. Lucky you!!
