What is the botanical name to cotton easter? I've never heard of this common name before.

Hi - new member here. I wonder if the plant in question is really cotoneaster. Many different species, some good for hedging, some for groundcover. Very hardy, not picky as to site or soil, and not requiring a lot of pruning. Have not started this one from seed, though.

Is the plant in the link the one you are refering too? I would think they could be winter sown since most are quite winter hardy and reseed at times.

Thanks for your replys. I don't know the botanical name .My friend as it in her garden , it is growing as a ground cover. It as reseeded itself in her garden .so I will give it a try and hope for the best.

I think you folks are talking about caw-TONY-aster. It grows wild in the woods around our house. I had a great pic on a CD somewhere but can't lay my hands on it this morning for some reason.

I read about a different way of spelling cotoneaster [caw-TONY-aster] that may make it clearer --- ka-TOE-knee-aster. Cute! ;-)

Actually I have heard of the spelling. Thanks very much for all your replys. I got some from my garden webb buddy yesterday she rooted it in water .Looks great.
