What color are you thinking for your front door?
I like your medium gray body and white trim color scheme. Here's a few suggestions:
The box is an air lock. and as you have noticed, really smart and functional. I would paint the trim around the window in the air lock gray, you don't want to accent it with white. I would also paint the garage door gray. Consider putting white shutters on the second floor windows only. Ignore the windows on the lower level.
At some point in a few years, it would not be difficult to re-do the front of the air lock with a new door and a side light entry way, taking out the small window.

Another suggestion, If your garage door is not insulated, you can buy an insulation kit very cheaply. Just look at the side of your door, you should be able to tell pretty easily if it is or not. If you can't insulate it, it would be good to buy a new one before another winter, and you might be able to get a rebate on it from your local utility company. Have you contacted your local utility company for an energy audit? Most will come out for free, and give you valuable ideas on how you can save money and where you need to upgrade insulation.

The new storm door is white (which looks tons better than the brown). Unfortunately the actual front door is attached to the house (inside the box) and you can't even see it from the street, so it probably doesn't do much good to paint it a pretty color. We have added a couple large hostas to the front bed of the house (under the picture window) to the left and right of the basement window.

Currently all the windows are outlined in olive green even though the basement windows don't really have true trim. Should we just paint "trim" around basement windows gray to downplay them? and if we did shutters on upper windows would we do all the windows? Seems like the center window is kind of close to the window directly right (not sure there would be room for shutters on that window).

If we paint garage door gray do we need special paint, or can we just use house paint?

Love the idea of the trellis...we don't have any siding as we are the second owners and didn't build the box (previous owners built the house and it has wood siding, pretty sure box also has wood siding). I have seen some really pretty "box" entries around here (windows on 3 sides with a peaked roof on the box), but our large window above the box might make it impossible to add a peak. Although I guess we could redo box and put more windows in. but a trellis on the front of the box would probably really improve it even if we don't change that silly diamond window. ;)

Oh, and color I was considering is Rare Gray by Sherwin williams. . . saw a couple different pictures online of houses with this. Any thoughts on a better gray? And what color white?
