'Lemon Meringue'

I have not had this one very long. Think June when I ordered it from SS. Came with a few blossoms but do to the heat they were *melted*. No it is getting some more but the first 2 that opened just had to much sun or what have you and the blossom stuck together and could not open right.

All of your brugs are very pretty! Great job!!

Oh, cool that one looks kind of like a daffodil, lol. I think most of the pics I have seen of this one the inner skirt doesn't always open all the way.

That's an interesting bloom. I like it. Does the inner skirt remain yellow?

Thank you Karen. Doing just what everybody does. Trying to keep them alive throughout the heat and bring out the true beauty of those angels. Where every single one is so special and different in their own way.
Kristy It CAN have TWO outside layers and then the middle. But the heat clued the two layers together. It is just a short one and yet it has blossoms. So I am thrilled for every new kind that shows their beauty to me. Then I hope that my sharing it brings everybody joy just what I feel when I can see all the beautiful flowers and plants that grow for others.

Karyn from the pictures from SS and what I am seeing on the two I have so far, yes. But it is a very sensitive one. I have it in just a few hours of sun and it droops terribly :-( Have moved it twice already. I believe it would be happiest in dabled shade all the time.

Nice. I hope you also get some of the well separated skirts like the SS picture shows. I think SJN from this forum said she even got some quadruple flowers on this one.

I think so too Shawn. But most likely it has to get cooler first or I have to put it in a total shady place. Which at this time I would like it to stay there. Hoping it will be THE place in the future for this one. At least then I can enjoy it close up when I am sitting outside. That one is the only one so far that is not a single. Got the american pride. But there I made the mistake of underplanting....hold on to your seats......MARIGOLDS lol. I learned my lessson. NO marigolds with Brugs. Not that I got a bug problem. BUT I planted just TWO marigolds in there with the brug. Had to cut HALF off from the middle to the outside already. Talk about marigolds loving being fertilized that much hahahahahah look for yourself.

Oops! lol Your marigolds are beautiful but I'd remove them from the brug pot completely. They are so big that the roots are probably competing for space and nutrients. If the combo was inground I wouldn't worry but I think the brug would do better alone or with a less aggressive companion.

I know Karyn. But honestly I am scared to fiddle with it before I replant them in the spring. The root system is really intertwined. I am so thrilled that american pride is doing so well and it would kill me if it dies or stops growing. I just water and feed them more lol. I have a american pride cutting in the ground too. Funny how it goes. That one seems to have even different leaf shape and is a lot lighter then that one in the picture. As a matter of fact, this one has the darkest green from all the angels I got. So I will keep my fingers crossed and go to bed now lol. HOpefully I will not be in pain from all that crossing the fingers when I wake up.
    nighty night everybody

On the subject of under planting your brugs, these are two plants that are good choices.

I use impatiens, Monika used to use the impatiens, but I am quite sure she uses the fibrous rooted begonias now. The reason these are good choices is, when they begin to wilt you know your brug needs watering.

David I noticed that too, And they really grow fast and fill in very nicely. I did pick that underplanting up from Monika ;-) love looking at her pictures and reading her advices. I am not familiar with begonias or for that matter a LOT of plants. I guess I was just REAL lucky when I picked those vinca's. I wonder if begonias would tolerate this extreme heat?
Ok I really need to go to bed now lol. But I was so happy that I had internet today. I am scared to turn off the PC fearing that it will not let me get back on tomorrow......HOLD it......oh my cosh....it IS tomorrow lol

Love this one a lot !! Fertilize the heck out it, and it should grow. I think once the heat settles down, we are all going to see many more blooms. @ least I hope so.

I made the same mistake planting one in the same bed with the marigolds and they totally covered it. Poor thing didn't grow nearly as fast as they did.

I think yours will straighten out once it cools off a little. My lemon meringue has been dropping buds everywhere but has one seedpod that is staying on. I usually get seem to get 3 skirts on mine and found a few that had 4 but they fell off. Here's a link to the photo of mine (scroll down a little).
