hi, thank you for the info, i will try to wait till next spring then. it has turned so hot and dry here now that i would be afraid to cut them up , one other question please....i have been just repotting some plants into bigger containers with no problem but the pots i am putting them in have no holes for drainage, i thought that would be better to help hold the water longer, is this a good thing or will they stagnate and rot? should i drill a small hole in the pot? thanks so much, ronda

Use pots with holes. Then set the pots in a shallow tray with about an inch or 2 of water in them. I am assuming you speak of sarracenia pitcher plants.

hi tommyr, thank you so much for all of your help. yes i am talking about sarracinia pitchers plants , i keep tham all out side all the time but they have become so over grown and the pitchers are much smaller now they need a lot of work done on them i have got to cut them out of the pots and seperate them out, i will indeed use pots with holes in them then, that is what they are in now 3 gal nursery buckets and i will continue to use them and get the other plants out of the pots that do not have drainage holes. thanks again, ronda
