Today, I was just standing near my buddleia taking a picture of this beautiful butterfly:

Well, that lady is just minding her own business, nectaring on Buddleia, getting her pretty picture taken, and then...well you know. Isn't Ma nature fascinating??

I witnessed this union several years back, walking along my front walkway, all of a sudden a male Monarch grabbed a female flying by and threw her down on the pavers by the hose and started mating with her. I was literally 4 feet away. Didn't have my camera, dang!

terrene, once you add liatris ligulistylis they start doing it all over the place!

This season, I even moved two couples back to their original mating spots after startling them onto the ground.

It's comical to see the male flying off with the female hanging upside down...seems so primitive.
