Moist not water logged. Just put a tray of water under it. When it runs out of water refill with rain o distilled water. Good luck.

I'm assuming no own has tried that granulated or spherical water holding polymer. I've been thinking of testing it to see what it will do with my PC.

My plan is this preparing different soil medias with different ratios of the polymer & specially prepared growing soil for carnivorous plants (one part perlite & one part peat moss. For example: 25% pc growing media to 75% Polymer, 50% pc growing media to 50% Polymer, & 75% pc growing media to 25% Polymer.

The labels claim it isn't toxic to plants, but pc have been affected by chemical compound that normally would not effect plants. Like wetting agents that help soil to moisten up quicker, these agent have cause my plants to die of sudden shock.

The last thing I want is loose a lot of my plants after adding these water retaining polymer & it does release a compound that normally will not affect plants but can be detrimental to carnivorous plants. Due to the carnivorous plants traits, they are easily affected by chemicals. You can try testing yourself, then post your results.

I have tested it with plants. It was a disaster for houseplants, including the carnivorous ones.

In the terrariums it raised the temperatures several degrees 10'F+. In the pots they grouped together to form a clump that the roots couldn't get through.

Outside, mixed with soil, in areas that are usually under watered they have been good.
