Do Monarch's overwinter?

hey guys, it's been a while since I've had a chance to read or post to this forum but I do have a question or even two. Do Monach's overwinter? I had a late one come through and i rescued it. It has been a chryslis going on two weeks. As of tonight, we will get pretty darn cold here, cold enough to kill all blooming things. i have left the poor guy out on the porch to replicate nature as much as possible. I;ve never heard of a monarch overwintering here in MS, but I've never researched it either. Do any of you know? And I have the same questions about a swallowtail that i rescued that is still in the cat stage. I'm not sure which swallowtail it is but I found it on a penta so it's not a spicebush though that was my first guess because of the fake eyes. I have it along with lots's of penta in my house on a windowsill.

Thanks - Butterflutter
